Exam 70-158: TS: Forefront Identity
Manager 2010, Configuring is required in order to earn the Microsoft Certified
Technology Specialist (MCTS): Forefront Identity Manager 2010, Configuration
certification. The 70-158 exam is a proctored test that is designed for
Identity Specialists. Specialists taking the exam typically have experience in the deployment and management
of Forefront Identity Manager 2010 within an enterprise environment. These
environments should have more than 5,000 identities and should include a
dynamic lifecycle. Candidates should also have experience in all of the
following: PowerShell, Directory Services, Security policies and procedures,
Microsoft SQL server 2008, email platforms, messaging platforms, user
management, password management, MPR Explorer, Portal request logs, and Stack
trace.
To prepare for the 70-158 exam,
candidates are encouraged to take advantage of the 50383B: Upgrading Identity
Lifecycle Manager 2007 to Forefront Identity Manager 2010 training course and
the 50382B: Implementing Forefront Identity Manager 2010 training course. Both
of these courses are four days in duration. Additionally, candidates should
take advantage of the practice tests that are available from MeasureUp and Self
Test Software to prepare for the exam.
The largest portion of the exam will
test a candidate's knowledge of FIM Synchronization. Other portions of the exam
will test a candidate's knowledge of planning, implementing, installing,
monitoring and maintaining FIM. The ability to plan and configure core portal
functionality and configure advanced portal-based scenarios will also be
included on the exam.
